Uncaged
February 5, again
Hello, again. I finished the cage story tonight-- the title is "Fable From A Cage." I'm pleased with it, though a little anxious, as well. I've written exactly one high-fantasy sword-and-sorcery type story before, and it was bad. I'm a little shy of that whole genre, now. I'm interested to see what Timprov and Marissa think of it, but part of me is whispering "Oh, they'll say it's awful, and offal, and other bad things."
It's a novella, too-- it's even longer than "Captain Fantasy"! Though it doesn't compare "Rangergirl," at least.
I want to work on a synopsis for my novel Genius of Deceit this week, because I'm enthusiastic about the challenge, and I hate to waste that enthusiasm. So I may not get my 2K a night done on fiction, and word-count isn't really the point with a synop. I'll keep y'all posted as to my writing going-ons, though. I'm not crapping out on the dare-- not by a long shot, and I expect to produce some fiction each night, synopsis aside-- but I'm going to shift priorities for a bit.
I got a four-month rejection from Weird Tales. Bummer. I thought they'd like that one. They say it held their interest throughout, but they thought it began too slowly and they didn't find the ending satisfying. I think it's one of my best endings, but what can I do? Send it somewhere else. It's only been a couple of places. I still have lots of options for it. Maybe Writer's of the Future. Hmm...
As a parting gift, I offer you this image, of a happening perpetrated by a band of merry pranksters in the early morning hours last night.
Discordianism in action-- and from a bunch of engineers (it seems), no less.
It warms the heart, really.
If you're so inclined, send me mail.
