Hedonistic Revelry

February 9

Hello, you beautiful sweetlings. This journal entry was supposed to be titled Side Two and contain the annotated track list of that mixed tape I'm making (at a glacial pace). But, halfway through recording said side two of said tape, I got enticed to go to a party with a bunch of hard-drinking astronomers, physicists, and environmental toxicologists. Me and Scott mounted our scooters (Er. Got on our scooters and rode them, I mean. Er. Traveled via our scooters. Yeah. That's better) and went a few blocks to the home of the lovely Marlita. She has a new porch (and a lovely porch it is), hence the excuse for a party. I drank much beer from the keg. I explained to a few people that I was not a scientist and had no connection to UCSC. I flirted basically not at all.

Flirting basically not at all was a trend for the whole evening, in fact. I went to Pergolesi this evening to write, and sat on the couch by an absolutely gorgeous woman. I smiled at her... then dove into writing my bicycle story. I didn't even really notice when she left, because I was occupied with the dark events going on in a school parking lot, which in turn exists only in my mind (and now on paper). Ah, well. It was a night for fiction and beer, not for romance.

Any tendencies toward romance were further undercut by the doggy gangbang action going on in the yard at the party. I mean, I like dogs as much as the next guy, and I'm all for consenting pets having fun, but really, it was getting a little extreme.

Elsewhere, check out Timprov's new (really new!) journal, Hedonism. Apparently, I'm partly to blame, for the name of his journal, at least. Here's your chance to get in on the ground-floor of what I expect to be a good journal (see, Timprov? One entry, and already people are starting in with their expectations). And, hell, I'll probably be mentioned in the journal from time to time, which makes me immensely fond of it already.

I plan to rise early tomorrow and visit Tim and Marissa, for a day of writing and talking about writing and eventually eating their food and overstaying my welcome. These people. Good people, these.
