Good, Best, Best
February 19
Oh, my, I've had a good couple of days.
On the writing front, three new developments:
- Michael Kelly has accepted my story "Melancholy Shore" for his Songs From Dead Singers anthology. La!
- My story "Annabelle's Alphabet" from LCRW is being reprinted in Best of the Rest 3: The Best Unknown SF and Fantasy of 2001. Double la!
- I just found out "Annabelle's Alphabet" is also being reprinted in Datlow & Windling's The Year's Best Fantasy & Horror! Which is my favorite anthology series, (and, for those of you who don't know much about the F&SF world, a HUGE deal; I didn't expect to get into this anthology until much later in my career, if ever). La, la, la!
I am, psychically at least, doing backflips. Since 1998 I've sent "Annabelle's" to most of the major magazines, and they all turned it down, though they generally said nice things; a year ago I despaired of it ever being published at all, and now it's been chosen for two year's best anthos!
What a lovely garden is my life.
In socializing-news, last night I hung out with (prepare for linkfest) Zak, Sharon, the lovely Susan Marie, sweet Heather, darling Mary Anne, Ian & Elle & Leo. We had Indian food at the not-involved-in-slavery restaurant, and then hung out at Susan's afterward for wine and ice cream (a surprisingly yummy combination). I had a very nice time, though I left Susan's a bit early to go home and write. I did 850 words on my Frog story, which is going to be long; I'd guess 10,000 words at least.
Life's good, work's good, tra la.
If you're so inclined, send me mail.
