Necromonkey
February 23
Hello, gray self-indulgent Saturday!
This morning I had another wonderful high-concept idea that I can't use -- as good as "Earl, the One-Armed Octopus" and "Dog Hockey Adventure" and "Justice Goat"! This one's a comic book, about a brilliant but evil chimpanzee sorcerer. The title? "Necromonkey".
Unfortunately, I can't draw. Sigh. Another idea consigned to the trashbin of memory.
So. Friday, yesterday, was amazingly mellow. At work I mostly did data-entry stuff, very chill, and in the afternoon went to the printer to check the proof of the issue, and then it was time to go home. Heather and I ordered food and rented Ghost World. Heather decided that she had to write before watching the movie, so I went up to my garret and wrote, too. I wrote 2600 words of the Frog story, which is getting better with every passing paragraph... I think it will be one of my best, and one of my longest. I'm more and more comfortable with novelettes. Heather finished her story (whoo!), and based on a reading of her first draft, I think it could be her best story yet... even unrevised, some of the scenes are quite powerful, and the details and character are convincing... She's good. I love it when she writes.
About 1 in the morning we actually started watching Ghost World, which I enjoyed very much.
Tomorrow Heather and I are going to work on our newest collab, which I'm very excited about; I suppose we can call it "the Crowd story" for our shorthand purposes here, though it's not at all like the Bradbury story "The Crowd". I may work on my sections today, actually. I'm composing the Frog story at the computer, so it might be nice to have something else to work on, longhand, if I go out.
Heather's off to go hiking and bookstoring, and I'm going to indulge my every lazy whim... maybe take in a matinee, maybe have a late lunch at Mama's, who knows? I'm going to unwind my shroud of stress and try to have a good time.
La. I'll write more to you soon.
If you're so inclined, send me mail.
