My Peeps
April 23
Hello, darlings. I had a simply fabulous weekend visiting people in the Bay Area-- great dinners, walks, talks. I might go into all that in more detail in another entry, but for now I want to give a few moments to some of my peeps:
First, congrats to Mike Jasper for his sale to Asimov's! He sold a fabulous story called "Natural Order," which I had the opportunity to read a few months ago. It's probably my favorite story of Mike's that I've read, and I couldn't be happier for him. I'm even more happy than I am jealous, I think.
Next, go read Marissa's funny and intelligent article "What the Kelk is That Dwarf-Lover Doing?: Building a Better World Through Offensive Language." Marissa is wonderful when it comes to creating verisimilitude in fantasy settings (as already proven by her "Fantasy Laundry" journal entry).
All done? Now go read Heather's Beltane article at Strange Horizons. It's great-- informative, full of both interesting history and practical suggestions for celebration, and it's sexy and fun throughout.
Finally, while you're at SH,, read fellow Rat Ben Rosenbaum's poem "A Gardener Betrayed By Roses." It's a great piece.
Wow. This is the linkiest entry ever. I'm channeling a blog-monster today. I promise to return to more self-referential rambliness soon (probably later tonight). In the meantime, go check out my awesome friends, and contemplate their awesomeness. That's what I've been doing all weekend.
If you're so inclined, send me mail.
