Sleepy Jack the Fire Drill

Whoo. Consider me rocked.
I went to see Radiohead last night. Oh, my, it ruled. I don't normally like such large-venue shows... but for Radiohead, yes, I make an exception.
D. and I rode up together. We were supposed to meet Scott, Lynne, Sasha and Marla (the latter two are physics/astro people, respectively, and super-cool). We could not find them (I later found out that they arrived quite late-- well into the Beta Band's set-- which is why we didn't hook up with them). I had fun just with D., though, watching Thom Yorke rock out and go crazy on stage. Yum. I found the venue (Shoreline Amphitheater) pretty well organized, too-- I didn't have to wait in any lines at all to get in, and even getting out of the parking lot after the show wasn't that bad.
So much Radiohead. I didn't have quite the transcendent experience D. did-- he said it was the best show he's ever been to. And that man sees a lot of live music. He'd actually seen Radiohead before, in a much smaller venue (the Cat's Cradle in Chapel Hill/Carrboro, a lovely little club). I'm envious of that, but he said this show was better.
I got home lateish after dropping D. off. Stayed up talking to Scott until after 2 a.m.
I am, today, a very sleepy boy.

Heather and I wrote a little song about Io, sung (more or less) to the tune of "Off To Work We Go":
"Io, Io, she was Zeus's ho,
she was guarded by a guy
with a whole lot of eyes,
chased to Egypt by a big gadfly,
Io, Io Io Io.
Hee. That was fun. There should be more verses, though.
Some people are Math Geeks. I'm a Myth Geek.

Heather and Marissa and various and sundry others went to see Gaiman last night. It's a hard ol' world when a man has to choose between seeing Neil Gaiman and seeing Radiohead.
Actually, I guess it isn't. It's pretty cool that I live in a place where I can have such choices.
Radiohead and Neil Gaiman. That's some good English stuff, yo.

Last night, at 2 o'clock in the morning, I was coming up with millions of things to write about here. Millions. Really. I was going to write about garlic fries and American Gods and Mark Twain essays and persuasive essays and the art of the informal essay and the Job Goblin and indecisive people and how much I adore Heather and other things... but now I'm at work, and I have quite a lot to do, actually. Sigh. So I'll post this and write something longer later. I'm going to try to actually update this weekend, rather than waiting until Monday... the weekend wrap-ups are fun, but I have to spend too much time trying to remember the chronology when I do it that way.
Ta. Love you all.
If you're so inclined, send me mail.
