Vicarious Scooting

July 25

Happy birthday (more or less) Susan and Mary Anne!

I'm sleepy, in that pleasant, I-had-a-productive-day sort of way. A short entry, then bed.

Songs from Dead Singers and Other Eulogies is ready to pre-order! It's coming out in August. Info (and the cover art) is here: www.catalystpress.net/New.html. The Table of Contents is like a who's who of good new horror, from Brian Hopkins to Gary Braunbeck to Charlee Jacob to... hell, everyone involved. Should be good.

I think that's it for crass self-promotion...

It's been a pleasant couple of days. I went to the gym yesterday, and read the new issue of the Santa Cruz Comic News, and bought a couple of books. Tonight I just hung around the house, frolicked with Heather, made quesadillas for dinner (yum), and read. I wrote about 2,000 words on Rangergirl last night, and it was dead easy, really fun, and I wrote surprising, good stuff. I only managed about 1,200 words tonight, and it was hard going; I'll probably have to rewrite it pretty much entirely, but I accomplished what I needed to with the scene. The day job has been pleasant, in the post-issue-lull, mostly me hanging out in the basement sorting the literally thousands of galleys, which is rather Sisyphean, but a nice break from sitting at the computer cranking away all day.

That's pretty much it. I finished reading The Truth, and it's one of my very most favorite Discworld novels. Now reading Moving Pictures, which is pleasant, principally for being the book that first introduces both Gaspode and Mustrum Ridcully. Getting onto a serious Pratchett kick; Heather's reading his stuff, too. (Heather's also taken to riding my scooter to the BART station, then from BART to work, then around the warehouse space at work, then back to BART, then home; perhaps she'll write a journal entry and describe her scooting adventures in more detail.)
