Morning Thing

August 10

8:40 a.m.

Just a brief morning check-in before I head off to the day job.

Heather admonished me for not mentioning that my review of Bruce Boston's Pavane For A Cyber Princess is online at Speculon. I'm just not used to thinking of myself as a non-fiction writer, I suppose...

Work was great yesterday. In the afternoon, I got to work on shelving books in the Nearly Complete Collection. It really sunk in, yesterday, what that means-- every book I've ever heard about but couldn't find, every out-of-print limited edition, every first novel the author later repudiated-- they're all down there! I spent several minutes running around the stacks, saying "I wonder if they have... yep!" Very cool.

Last night Heather and I had another American Dinner (except for the fact that the hot dogs were veggie dogs, anyway, which is if not American at least Californian). We watched (surprise!) some Buffy, aided in our watching enjoyment by the lovely Susan Marie. Around 10 I slipped upstairs to do some work. I was productive, but I can't go into details right now... just doing some organizational work for something that's going to be pretty cool when it's all put-together. I'll tell y'all more about it when the time comes.

Nothing really substantial to report publication-wise, but I've heard some strong "maybes" regarding both fiction and poetry, so perhaps in the not-too-distant future I'll have some acceptances to report. Keep hoping for me.

Okay, just wanted to say hi, really, in case I don't get a chance to write an entry tonight. Have a lovely friday.
