Here

August 8

Well, I'm here, in Santa Cruz. Everything is wonderful and good, I love the place, my days are just packed, I'm writing and visiting beaches and drinking coffee and walking and taking care of the settling-in necessaries and hanging out with my new roomie and longtime best-friend Scott the Friendly Astrophysicist... Yesterday we went to Big Sur and free-climbed rocks (that sounds more impressive than it is-- as has probably become readily apparent during the course of these entires, I'm not a very physically adventurous person, so rest assured that the rocks were small, the climbs less than arduous) and looked at the absolutely gorgeous landscape. I've never seen a place so beautiful.

I don't have much time for an entry just now, so this will have to do-- but accounts of my cross-country adventures will be forthcoming (including an explanation of why I got to Santa Cruz a week ahead of schedule), and further musings and babblings, as you, my darlings, have come to expect.

Oh, one bit of writing-related news. I sold a story, "The Dog Boys", to Deep Outside. It'll come out sometime, I'll let you know. There's a lot of history to this story, and I'll probably devote at least part of my next entry to talking about that.

Until then, my worthies, take care.
